I want to point out that I do not
believe that the KJV is the only Bible -as many people are saved
from the reading and teaching of other Bibles. However, I firmly
believe that the KJV is the best Bible to bring a man of God to
maturity. By that I mean that I firmly believe that the KJV, while
a little more difficult to read than modern translations, will
help the Bible student understand the truths behind the words
of Scripture far more readily than newer translations. Furthermore,
the KJV will reinforce the truths time and time again. As a mentor
of mine once
told me: a good teacher
will cause you to wonder, to seek and find the answers yourself,
so that you know what and why you believe, rather than parroting
the words of other men.
The reason I believe that the KJV will bring a Christian into maturity all the faster is because the KJV preserves the tenses used in the grammar of the verbs. Also, as David Daniels correctly points out: "in almost every language but modern English, people knew whether the speaker was addressing one person or many. In Classical English, this is preserved. If the speaker is talking to one person, he uses "thee" or "thou." If he is talking to many people, he says 'you' or 'your.'"
"The KJV preserves this distinction. For example when Jesus spoke to Nicodemus, He said, 'Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again' (John 3:7). What He said in effect was, 'Marvel not that I said onto thee (Nicodemus), ye (all of you people) must be born again.' Jesus did not tell this only to Nicodemus. He spoke to all people of all times, from those who stood around that night, even to us today: Ye must be born again!" That is something that can be used as a witnessing tool.
Since our Lord in heaven is not the author of confusion (1 Cor. 14:33), one must look upon anything that would seek to divide the body of Christ with the deepest of suspicion. As Christians are sure of spirit and sound in mind, they are not prone to make hasty judgments. Therefore, the end results of a conclusion must not be based on preference, but on facts. Thus, for myself, I rest my position for the majority text on the often over simplified but very complex issue of manuscript transmission and the supporting arguments from facts for the inclusion of the texts that the Alexandrian unicals and minuscules have left out. I do do not rest my position on the emotionalism often expressed from both sides of of the question of, "Which Bible?" If you should not agree with my personal position, I see no reason why we should cease fellowship with brethren who would contest our positions because knowledge of God is the water of life.
By faith I do take the KJV to be the perfect Bible. I pray that my brethren in Christ will except this as well by reading of the facts and seeking knowledge of the truth for themselves. But regardless of which side of the fence you reside, every faithful Christian must reckon seriously with the teaching of Christ concerning the providential preservation of Scripture. As our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught in Matt. 5:18 and Luke 16:17; there is greater stability of the Scriptures than to the heavens and earth.
